Dear Friends,
The month of January has been full with God’s grace in ministry.
Our preschool resumed for second term, and we are blessed to continue ministering to so many sweet children each day sharing Christ’s love, providing a meal each day, and giving them a wonderful environment to learn and develop.

Our hearts are full with two babies we are caring for. Noella was found the day after Christmas, while Alvin came to us just after the new year. Both are lovely and healthy. While we regret the trauma of their abandonment, we are so grateful for the opportunity to love them and care for them until they transition to their permanent families.
We have reaped a bountiful harvest from our farmer’s program. We were blessed with plenteous rains, and this harvest will feed many families for the next few months.

One of the highlights of my year is my annual trip to the mountains of Ramba for a children’s crusade. It’s a trip of about 4 ½ hours over 2 of those hours up rock and mud hills with steep cliffs. Once there, we are greeted by 500 singing and dancing children, who left their homes hours earlier on foot to come learn about Jesus. Their love is so abundant; the trip is well-worth it.

This year, the church had a special surprise for us that has me still astonished. A few months ago, I had visited the church and pastor in hopes of bringing a mission team to the area for a few days. Unfortunately, the roads are sometimes impassible, requiring us to walk part of the way. There is also no option for lodging, and many other necessities of hosting a team were missing. These blessed saints took it upon themselves to build a house for Love Alive! They built a beautiful little home already set with a bed. While there is not electricity or water, they not only paved the floors but installed tile–something none of them have in their homes or church, nor I in my own home. To top it off and really prove this home was for us, they painted Love Alive’s logo on the front of the house. I’m now imagining how Elijah felt when the Shunammite woman and her husband created a prophet’s chamber for him. I have always found it humbling when people tell me how much they pray for Love Alive and for me. This was an equally if not more humbling display of their gracious love and desire for fellowship in ministry and with future guests, and their gratitude for Love Alive’s support to them over the years.

Meanwhile, this church has begun building a new church building as they are being crowded out of their smaller space. We are partnering with them in this new building.
Thank you for your gracious partnership with us in ministry.
Blessings! Laura
